With Doors Wide Open

I've always been criticized by my friends for leaving the doors open, for example when I leave the group room to go get a book or fill up my water bottle. It's a bad habit of mine.

Physically, it's a bad habit.

Mentally, it might not be.

I'm not sure how we started  talking about this, but a friend and I were talking about this the other day. He's the one that said the two lines above, by the way. I should probably become better at saying what are my words and what are quotations.

A closed door usually means that you don't want someone to see something, want to hide something from somebody, keeping a lot of secrets, wanting to isolate oneself from others... You see where I'm going?

Open doors is a picture of an open soul. Wanting to let people in, wanting them in your life, and wanting them to know that. Letting them know that you have no secrets, or that you'd let them in on them. Not wanting to put up a wall between you and the world.

So you see, me leaving doors open when I leave might not be such a bad habit after all. I'm wanting to live my life with doors wide open.

Then I suppose it's a bad sign that I have a habit of locking the door to my room whenever I enter, huh?

Jasnette: Maybe, but it could also be your mentality protecting you, don't you think?
