About Cake and Calling

Howdie! I hope you all had a good celebration of Norway's Constitution Day yesterday! I didn't do much, sat in a chair and watched it on TV, ate dinner with the family, and then my grandparents stopped by for coffee and cake later in the day. Here're some pics of our dessert:

Doesn't that look delicious? :D

Furthermore... As I am beginning my studies at the university in August, I am currently on the lookout for a place to stay. Two days ago I found a room for rent to a good price not too far away from where I'll be studying (if I get in, but nothing suggests I wouldn't), although that was late in the evening so I decided to wait until today before contacting the owner of the place.

Here's the deal, though: I hate, hate, hate to speak on the phone with people I don't know. It's one of the worst things I know. I've gotten better when it comes to booking an appointment with doctor, dentist, and hair dresser, but to do something like this just sucks. I sent an email though, saying that I wrote a CV I would like to send, and in the CV I included some things about myself and that I'm available on the phone and per e-mail anytime, and can come to see the room whenever it's convenient for the owner. I just hope the room isn't taken already. I know it would probably have been a better idea to call, but I just couldn't bring myself to it. And hell, this worked for a friend of mine who was looking for a place last year, so I decided to give it a try. It couldn't hurt, anyways...

Also been looking around for a job. I began the search during Easter holidays, but I haven't heard back from anyone. Contacted my boss at Kiwi, she said I'll probably get something, but I understand that she must priorotize those who work there full time, of course... So my mom told me that the local kindergardens need more people. I have to contact the person in charge of the kindergardens to be put on a wait list/contact list though. I tried calling twice two days ago, but couldn't get through to her. I was going to call again today, but before I knew it it was past 3pm and since they work summer time now there will be none there after 3pm. Darn it. Now I have to hear about it from my parents at dinner, I am sure of it, and I have to wait until Monday before I can try again... Ugh, I hate calling. And I hate that I have to spend the weekend knowing that come Monday I have to make yet another phone call...

On the bright side though, I can walk normally again! I didn't work out yesterday, but I've done 4 of the first 10 work outs on Jillian's DVD, and am already feeling a change! It's hell to push through it sometimes, but like she says: "That's when change is going to happen".

Wish me luck with everything!
